Gasoline reserves boosted for Nowruz with 8m liter production increase

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) announced that gasoline production at the country’s refineries increased by approximately 8 million liters per day in the second half of the current Iranian year, significantly strengthening fuel reserves for the Nowruz holidays.

Keramat Veis-Karimi, speaking to reporters on Sunday during a visit to the Tehran Oil Refinery, emphasized that extensive planning and efforts have been made to ensure adequate fuel supplies, particularly gasoline, ahead of the Nowruz 1404 holidays. These measures include not only proper storage of gasoline in oil depots but also increased production and improved fuel transportation management.

Veis-Karimi noted that the average daily gasoline consumption in Iran in 1403 was 124 million liters. However, this figure is expected to rise to 135 million liters per day during the first half of Farvardin 1404 due to increased travel and the coincidence of Eid al-Fitr with the Nowruz holidays.

He confirmed that all oil depots across the country have been fully stocked with sufficient gasoline for the holiday period. Additionally, the fleet of road tankers has been expanded to play a key role in transporting fuel to distribution stations during the holidays. Coordination meetings with transport companies and contractors have also been held to ensure efficient fuel delivery and strict oversight.

Veis-Karimi highlighted that special monitoring will be in place from Esfand 25, 1403 (March 15, 2025) to Farvardin 15, 1404 (April 4, 2025) over oil depots, road transport fleets, and fuel distribution stations. Mobile fuel stations, operational throughout the year, will continue to provide services during the Nowruz period.

Addressing last year’s gasoline shortages in northern regions, Veis-Karimi stated that necessary measures have been taken to prevent a recurrence. These include improved supply route management and increased production, ensuring that the high travel demand in these provinces is met.
