Misuse of water, gas, electricity leads to dead end, Pezeshkian warns

SHANA (Tehran) – President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Sunday that, improper management of water, gas, and electricity resources, is leading the country toward a dead end.

Speaking at the 38th International Khwarizmi Festival, Pezeshkian emphasized that with the collective expertise of academics and elites, it is inconceivable that societal problems cannot be resolved.

"From the beginning, I believed that when in power, we must empower universities to address economic, social, and industrial challenges. Elite professors, students, and every Iranian should think about solving the nation's problems," he said.

Pezeshkian added, "Today, humanity plans to live and farm on the Moon and Mars, yet we are not using our water, gas, and electricity resources wisely. The path we are on is a dead end, and nothing can be done unless we change our perspective and actions. This can only be achieved by elites, scientists, academics, and universities that seek to break free from routine."

The president stressed that the government is ready to support progress by providing regulatory, financial, and infrastructural assistance. However, he noted that the lack of focus and planning in the education and research sectors is leading to significant waste of national resources.

Pezeshkian urged academics to concentrate on solving problems with available resources and capabilities.

"It should not be the case that we allocate resources, funds, and equipment to one place, send experts elsewhere, and end up achieving nothing," he said.
