President: Iran-Russia energy cooperation positive

SHANA (Tehran) – President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia in energy, industry, transportation, and trade, stating that the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two nations is a significant milestone in their relations.

During a meeting on Tuesday with Alexei Overchuk, Russia’s deputy prime minister, who traveled to Tehran to attend the Third Caspian Economic Forum, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership treaty.

He noted that the agreement outlines a clear path for strategic cooperation and the expansion of bilateral ties, urging officials to prioritize its implementation.

Pezeshkian described the progress in bilateral cooperation across energy, industry, transportation, and trade as highly positive.

He added that regional and international organizations, such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, have opened new avenues for collaboration. He expressed hope that these opportunities would soon benefit the people of both countries.

Overchuk, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Iran. He noted that interactions and cooperation between the two countries have become more active since the signing, with increased diplomatic exchanges serving as a key indicator of progress.

Overchuk also provided an overview of discussions at the Caspian Economic Forum, highlighting the event as an excellent platform for the targeted development of relations among Caspian Sea littoral states.
