Daily gas extraction from South Pars field rises by 10 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) announced that daily gas extraction from the South Pars joint field has increased by 10 million cubic meters compared to last year.

Touraj Dehqani made the statement on Monday during a visit by Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, to the SPQ1 platform in South Pars.

He highlighted the consecutive production records set in the South Pars joint field in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2024), noting that the company’s employees achieved a daily gas extraction record of 716 million cubic meters during the winter season, marking a 10 million cubic meter increase from the previous year.

Dehqani pointed out that more than 1,200 personnel are working on the offshore platforms of the South Pars joint field.

He added that over two-thirds of the Pars Oil and Gas Company’s workforce is employed in operations and support services, contributing to the extraction of more than 70% of the country’s required gas, which is consumed across the nation.

The CEO emphasized the importance of maintaining the facilities installed in the South Pars joint field, stating that the field generates $100 billion in annual revenue and deserves special attention as a national asset.

Dehqani also expressed appreciation for the government spokesperson’s visit to the South Pars operational region, calling it a morale boost for the company’s staff.

He noted that employees working in the South Pars field operate under challenging and strenuous conditions, striving to maximize gas production to meet the country’s consumption needs.
