Daily gas consumption exceeds 600 mcm in 28 days

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the National Iranian Gas Company's Operations Center predicted an increase in gas consumption across the country next week, stating that household and commercial gas usage over the first 28 days of the Iranian month of Bahman (Jan. 20-Feb. 16) has exceeded 600 million cubic meters (mcm).

Gholamreza Kushki commented on gas consumption levels, noting that household and commercial gas usage over the 28 days ending Feb. 16 surpassed 600 mcm. In comparison, during the 30 days of Bahman last year, only eight days saw consumption levels above 600 mcm.

He added that gas consumption in the household and commercial sectors reached approximately 630 million cubic meters yesterday, accounting for 73% of the total gas produced in the country.

Kushki stated that no significant change in gas consumption is expected by the end of the week. However, based on forecasts from the Meteorological Organization, a new weather system is expected to enter the country next week, leading to a further increase in gas consumption. It is projected that consumption could rise to 670 mcm.

Kushki urged citizens to cooperate in ensuring stable gas supply across the country and to take the "2 Degrees Less" campaign seriously, especially given the anticipated cold weather next week. This, he said, would help the National Iranian Gas Company meet the country's gas needs effectively.
