Fardin Rashedi stated during a press conference on Saturday that all products at the refinery will be upgraded to meet quality standards within the next 40 months.
Rashedi highlighted Abadan Refinery’s historical significance, noting it as a symbol of Iran’s oil industry civilization.
He emphasized that the refinery remains a key player in addressing the country’s fuel imbalances and meeting product demands.
The CEO also pointed to the construction of a 210,000-barrel distillation unit and the launch of the Middle East’s largest hydrocracker unit at the refinery.
With the hydrocracker unit now operational, the refinery produces Euro-5 standard diesel, marking a significant step in product quality improvement.
Rashedi noted that over €1.2 billion has been invested in stabilizing the refinery’s capacity. He described this as one of the largest national projects, which will soon result in the refinery housing some of the most modern operational units.
He further stressed that efforts are underway to upgrade all units at Abadan Refinery within the next 40 months. This initiative will address concerns about fuel oil supply for power plants and include the implementation of a final desulfurization unit.
Rashedi reiterated that stabilizing operations will boost daily gasoline production by 8 to 10 million liters, with all refinery products set to meet quality standards within the specified timeframe.
The CEO also emphasized the refinery’s commitment to social responsibility, given its historical and geographical significance. Alongside addressing national fuel imbalances and generating wealth, the refinery has prioritized supporting the city of Abadan, with significant efforts made in recent years.
Rashedi concluded by stating that Abadan Refinery is on track to become one of the world’s most modern refineries through product quality upgrades. All projects are being carried out with environmental considerations, including efforts to reduce pollution by transitioning to ethanol-based solutions.
