NIGC announces 80% progress in gas supply to Chabahar

SHANA (Tehran) – The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) expressed satisfaction with the 80% progress in gas supply to Chabahar, stating that the approval for the development of the Makoran steel pipeline has been issued, and the project will significantly contribute to the country’s economic cycle.

Saeid Tavakoli, during a visit to gas supply projects in Chabahar and Konarak by the Khorasan Razavi Gas Company on Thursday, coinciding with the president’s trip to the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, praised the 80% progress in gas supply to Chabahar and 40% progress in Konarak.

Khorasan Razavi had previously implemented the gas supply project to Zahedan as the supporting province for Sistan and Baluchestan.

The deputy oil minister added that Chabahar’s geographical location, as one of the best areas for industrial activities with access to high seas, provides the opportunity for full utilization of the production chain.

These projects not only convert gas into added value but also promise economic prosperity and growth in the region, he stated.

A vital project for regional development

Hassan Eftekhari, managing director of Khorasan Razavi Gas Company, provided an online report on the progress of gas supply projects in Sistan and Baluchestan, stating that 430 kilometers of steel and polyethylene distribution and feeding networks are required for the project.

“So far, 300 kilometers have been completed, with the remaining work being carried out simultaneously by two contractors across six work fronts.”

He announced the construction of a main city gas station (CGS) with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per hour and six city gas pressure reduction stations in Chabahar, adding that the total funding required for the Chabahar project is approximately 1 trillion tomans.

Eftekhari also highlighted the simultaneous gas supply project to Konarak, noting that 120 kilometers of distribution and feeding networks are needed, with 90 kilometers already completed and the remaining 30 kilometers being rapidly implemented across three work fronts.

He stated that two city gas pressure reduction stations will also be installed in Konarak, with the required funding for the Konarak project exceeding 300 billion tomans. Eftekhari emphasized that the implementation of the gas supply project in the Makoran coast will pave the way for economic and social development in the region.
