Value of experiences in SPOGC not less than production of 700 mcm of gas

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the South Pars Oil and Gas Company (SPOGC) stated that the value of the company's experiences and intellectual assets is equivalent to a daily production of 700 million cubic meters of gas.

Touraj Dehqani made his remarks during a ceremony for the introduction of the new head of Human Resources and the farewell to the previous manager.

The event, which was attended by the acting head of Human Resources Development at the National Iranian Oil Company, highlighted the over two decades of valuable experience among the company’s employees in developing the world's largest gas field and collaborating with international companies.

He emphasized that this expertise provides the oil industry with an opportunity to create added value through the accumulated knowledge and experience.

Dehqani underscored the importance of preserving the intellectual and experiential assets of the company’s human capital, pointing out that South Pars, as the largest integrated asset in the country, requires a continuous focus on learning from years of field development and maintaining production in the coming years.

He added that the experiences and intellectual assets of the company are worth no less than the daily production of 700 million cubic meters of gas, expressing hope that strategic policies regarding human capital will lead to significant transformations in this area, with the effects gradually appearing in other parts of the organization.

Over 60% of employees in operational roles

Amir Qaempanah, acting head of Human Resources Development at the National Iranian Oil Company, also shared statistics on the company’s human capital.

He noted that over 5,200 people are employed under various contracts (official, contractual, and subcontracting), with more than 60% working in operational sectors.

This substantial proportion highlights the significance of human resources management within South Pars, while the supporting areas remain crucial for generating ideas and policy making.

He pointed to the completion of many developmental projects at South Pars and the importance of this impact on the company’s structure. He also highlighted the need for succession planning, noting that approximately 150 employees are expected to retire by 2026.

Qaempanah mentioned ongoing efforts within the Ministry of Oil and at higher levels to increase salary caps for operational staff, along with the need for enhanced welfare and cultural services, mental health support, and training programs for employees.

Focus on psychological issues of employees

Alireza Kondorani, the new head of Human Resources at South Pars, stressed the importance of pursuing unfinished projects and expressed that growth, development, and improvement occur through this effort.

He referred to global studies indicating that organizations need four human resources specialists for every 100 employees, underlining the significance of psychological issues that have been overlooked.

Kondorani highlighted the fundamental difference between clinical psychology and industrial-organizational psychology, stating that while clinical psychology focuses on adapting individuals to social norms, industrial-organizational psychology emphasizes understanding and interacting with organizational personnel.

Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him by the CEO of South Pars and the head of human resources development at the National Iranian Oil Company, Kondorani stated that he aims to work with the experienced human resources management team to effectively address challenges.

Hussein Ahmadian, the former head of human resources at South Pars, described human capital as the company's most valuable asset, playing a vital role in achieving organizational goals. He emphasized the need to support employees in operational areas and wished success to Kondorani in his new role.
