Diesel production sets record high

SHANA (Tehran) – The country’s average diesel production in the first 17 days of the ninth month of Iranian calendar reached 124 million liters per day, marking an increase of 13 million liters compared to the daily average during the first five months of this year (13th administration).

The 14th administration, focusing on improving refinery capacity and optimizing production processes, successfully raised the nation’s daily diesel output from an average of 111 million liters for the said five-month period to 124 million liters in the 17 days to December 7.

This 11.7% growth highlights the government’s ability to efficiently manage petroleum resources while playing a crucial role in meeting domestic demand, reducing reliance on imports, and enhancing the country’s energy security.

This surge in production is attributed to effective measures such as the launch of the hydrocracker unit at Abadan Refinery, removing bottlenecks, increasing refinery feedstock by over 100,000 barrels per day, optimizing operational conditions, and utilizing idle capacity in catalytic cracking units like Isomax and Cat Crackers.

Monthly diesel production up by 7m liters

Recent figures reveal that while diesel production averaged 111 million liters per day during the first five months of this Iranian year (started March 20), it steadily grew in subsequent months.

During the sixth month of the Iranian calendar (August 22-September 21), the average daily production rose by 1.8% to 113 million liters. This upward trend continued in the next two months, with production reaching 115 million liters per day in seventh month of Iranian calendar (a 1.7% increase) and 117 million liters per day in the eighth month.

The most significant increase occurred in the ninth month of the Iranian calendar, when diesel production surged by 5.9% from 117 million liters per day to 124 million liters per day. This marked a new record for diesel production under the current administration.

Compared to the first five months of this Iranian year, December’s daily average of 124 million liters represents an increase of 13 million liters, or 11.7%, over a four-month period. This achievement underscores the efficiency of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company’s policies and plans in boosting production to meet domestic needs.
