Putin: Successful holding of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation shows promotion of cooperation

SHANA (Tehran) – Russian President Vladimir Putin said the successful holding of the 17th Joint Economic Commission between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in Tehran and the 77% growth in goods trade are positive signs of the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

Talking to Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi on the phone, Putin congratulated Iranians on the Persian New Year and the holy month of Ramadan.

The two presidents exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, including the development of economic ties and investment projects.

Putin also referred to the finalization of the draft comprehensive cooperation agreement between Tehran and Moscow.

Russia and Iran's presence in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS is a good opportunity for the two countries to improve their interactions.

Raeisi, for his part, congratulated Putin on his reelection, expressing hope the new Russian government will lay a suitable groundwork for boosting bilateral relations and constructive cooperation in different areas.

The Iranian president hailed bilateral agreements, including the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, as “suitable groundwork” for promoting cooperation, particularly economic and commercial relations.
