Iran-Russia energy cooperation a crushing response to sanctions: MP

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of the Iranian Parliament’s Energy Committee said on Tuesday cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in the energy sector is a crushing response to sanctions.

Talking to SHANA, Seyyed Mousa Mousavi added Iran and Russia are strategic partners and their energy cooperation is helpful.

Pointing to the 17th Joint Economic Commission between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation held in Tehran in late February, the MP said the event helps the two countries expand their relations in different areas.

The 13th administration has given special attention to economic and energy diplomacy, said Mousavi, adding increase in oil exports, development of ties with neighboring states, and revival of economic and energy diplomacy promise a bright future for Iran’s economy.

Tehran and Moscow signed 19 cooperation documents during the closing ceremony of the 17th Joint Economic Commission between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in the presence of Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the commission cochairs, in Tehran on February 28.
