NIOEC chief says 7 processing units of Abadan Refinery will become operational by end of winter 2024

SHANA (Tehran) – Seven processing units of Abadan Refinery, southern Iran, will be put into operation by the end of winter 2024, the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC) managing director said on Monday.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with SHANA, Farhad Ahmadi the seven quality improvement units are part of the second phase of the project for boosting and stabilizing the refinery’s capacity.

Bandar Abbas-Sirjan-Rafsanjan and Tabriz-Khoy-Urumieh pipelines are two important projects undergoing last stages of executive operations, said the CEO of NIOEC, expressing hope both will come on stream by mid-March 2024.

Venezuela project done

Ahmadi said the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company has completed its extraterritorial project in Venezuela’s El Palito refinery.

NIOEC has shipped all equipment needed for the project, mentioned the company chief, explaining the Latin American country has placed a new order for more equipment, including 2,000 tons of catalyst for its FCC unit.

According to him, 500 tons of the catalyst have been delivered and the remaining 1,500 tons will be shipped within two months.

Ahmadi expressed NIOEC’s readiness to carry out overhaul operations if the Venezuelan officials call for the revamp.
