Leader: Upstream oil, gas industry provides plenty of opportunity for private sector participation

SHANA (Tehran) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday the upstream sectors of industries such as oil, gas, and steel, and professions like handicrafts provide plenty of opportunity for the participation of the private sector.

The Leader, who received a great number of economic activities and manufacturers, added the upstream industrialists’ efforts and innovations result in increasing jobs and decreasing poverty.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the homegrown products exhibition he visited on Monday as “exciting and outstanding”.

The Leader praised the country’s advances in various scientific and technological fields, stating that the country’s experts have managed to make such impressive strides despite sanctions and animosity of ill-wishers against the Islamic Republic.

Even though foreign plots and sanctions are harmful and cause problems for our country, the Leader noted, Iranian youths have taken advantage of this opportunity and made outstanding achievements in the development of military equipment as well as in the field of space and satellite launches, Press TV reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei hailed the recent launch of the Soraya satellite into a low Earth orbit (LEO), emphasizing that the development would not have taken place without the anti-Iran sanctions.

Last week, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force successfully put Soraya satellite into an orbit 750 kilometers above Earth in 11 minutes.

The research satellite, manufactured by the Iranian Space Agency (ISA), was launched with a Qaem-100 space launch vehicle (SLV). Qaem-100 is a three-stage SLV with solid fuel developed by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
