South Pars refinery reconstruction continues around the clock

SHANA (Tehran) – Reconstruction of a damaged refinery at South Pars gas field is progressing around the clock, with officials hoping to restore operational sections in time for the start of the cold season, the CEO of Payandan Co. said.

Ali Ahouchehr said the presence of Caretaker Oil Minister Hamid Bovard could help resolve obstacles to reconstruction and boost the morale of workers involved in the project.

He said the minister’s visit was important both for facilitating the work and for encouraging employees who have been working continuously to restore the damaged facility.

Ahouchehr expressed hope that continued support from the oil minister, the Oil Ministry and the National Iranian Oil Co. would enable sections of the refinery that are ready for operation to return to service as quickly as possible at the beginning of the cold season.

He praised the efforts of employees and project teams, saying they were working continuously to help meet Iran’s energy needs during the winter.

Bovard visited damaged South Pars refineries and the Jam and Mobin Energy Persian Gulf petrochemical complexes on Tuesday, Oct. 13, accompanied by Bushehr Governor General Arslan Zare and Mousa Ahmadi, head of Parliament’s Energy Committee.

During the visit, Bovard inspected the third, fourth, fifth and sixth South Pars refineries to review reconstruction progress and measures to restore damaged sections.
