Farshad Moqimi said plans are in place to return the unit to service by early Bahman, the 11th month of the Iranian calendar, which begins in late January.
Speaking about field inspections and challenges facing ongoing projects, Moqimi said decisions made during the final meetings of Caretaker Oil Minister Hamid Bovard’s visit to the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone would help remove implementation obstacles and accelerate project work.
The second processing unit at Phase 14 was damaged in an attack. Once operational, it is expected to add about 14 million cubic meters per day to Iran’s gas processing capacity, Moqimi said.
He stressed that the presence of the acting oil minister and Pars Oil and Gas Co., the project’s executive employer, was essential under current circumstances.
Moqimi said the decisions taken to address project challenges could significantly accelerate progress toward established targets, restore gas production capacity more quickly and help reduce the country’s energy imbalance.
Bovard visited damaged South Pars refineries and the Jam and Mobin Energy Persian Gulf petrochemical complexes on Tuesday, Oct. 13, accompanied by Bushehr Governor General Arslan Zare and Mousa Ahmadi, head of Parliament’s Energy Committee.
During the visit, Bovard inspected the third, fourth, fifth and sixth South Pars refineries to review reconstruction work and measures to restore damaged sections.
