Raeisi meets Putin, says ground prepared for boosting Iran-Russia energy ties

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi held talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Thursday and said the ground is prepared for developing bilateral relations in energy, agricultural, and knowledge-based industries.

The visiting president expressed his satisfaction with the growing ties between Tehran and Moscow, describing bilateral cooperation as important.

Raeisi was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising a number of ministers, including Oil Minister Javad Owji.

Putin, for his part, said Russia-Iran relations are growing at the best level and will develop thanks to support of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Pointing to Iran’s exhibitions highly welcomed by Russian traders, Putin added trade turnover between Russia and Iran has jumped to $5 billion, showing the two nations’ willingness to open a new chapter in their relations.

Joint road and rail transport projects have made great progress and bilateral energy cooperation has been promoted, said the Russian president.

Putin hosted Raeisi in the Kremlin a day after visiting the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, where he discussed international issues, including efforts made by Russia and OPEC in the oil market.
