SCO member states have great capacities for economic cooperation: Iran’s first VP

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s first vice president on Wednesday said the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states have great capacities for economic cooperation.

Talking to reporters before departing for Kyrgyzstan to attend a meeting of the organization, Mohammad Mokhber added the SCO member states have common views with Iran on multipolar world order, confrontation with U.S. sanctions, and expansion of political and economic relations at regional and international levels, which could promise a bright future for regional nations.

Pointing to Iran’s enormous capacities in industrial, agricultural, technological, and energy sectors, he expressed hope that his presence in the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek will lead to bilateral cooperation with the participating countries.

Mokhber added he will pursue the 13th administration and the president’s policies on promotion of ties and cooperation with regional countries with the aim of stabilizing and boosting the region’s peace and security and developing economic relations.

Oil Minister Javad Owji, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, and a number of officials are accompanying the first vice president.

Mokhber is scheduled to attend the SCO meeting on Thursday and hold talks in about 10 sessions on bilateral cooperation, including negotiations with the Russian, Chinese, Kyrgyz, and Tajik prime ministers.
