Mohammad Mokhber, who held talks with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov on the sidelines of the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, added the two sides agreed to promote economic cooperation, construct a rail corridor, commission a refinery in Kyrgyzstan, supply bitumen to the country, build a power plant in the Central Asian state, and set up trade centers in both countries.
Upon demand of Japarov, Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji and Kyrgyz Economy Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev were assigned to make plans for commissioning a refinery, producing gasoline, and supplying bitumen to the Central Asian country.
Furthermore, the two countries’ roads ministers were tasked with constructing a rail corridor from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran through holding more talks and reaching an agreement.
The setup of trade centers and the organization of exhibitions in Iran and Kyrgyzstan were among the agreements reached by the two sides.
The Iranian and Kyrgyz officials also decided to use national currencies in their transactions and operate a barter system to trade products, particularly meat and cereal.
Japarov, for his part, expressed his astonishment at Iran’s technical and engineering services, calling for constructing a power plant in Kyrgyzstan as soon as possible.
The 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States will start Thursday.
