Tehran, Moscow Keen on Bolstering Energy Ties: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Iran and Russia have held talks on the development of relations at different levels, and increasing cooperation in the field of energy is also of interest to the two countries.

Nasser Kanani said today (Monday, January 9) in his weekly press conference about the claim of the US that the JCPOA negotiations are off their agenda, that the American officials talking to the Zionist regime about Iran is not news anymore; unfortunately, the foreign policy of the United States regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran is held hostage by the Zionists and the Zionist regime.

Recalling that the nuclear issue is not the only issue of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added: “Striking agreements is a two-way path. The country that violated the commitment is the American regime: the country that should be held accountable and explain as the accused and accountable. The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the nuclear issue is clear and operates within the same framework, and is ready to conclude the negotiations based on the package that has been presented.”

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs further touched on the strategic agreement between Iran and China and its implementation: “The signing of the 25-year comprehensive plan of cooperation between Iran and China is the result of the political will of the high-ranking officials of the two countries so that this agreement moves forward on the path of bilateral relations; this plan is based on the development of relations between the two countries, and negotiations are ongoing, and the person in charge of this issue also visited Tehran, and good agreements were reached.”

In response to a question about oil and gas trade with Russia, Kanani said: “I cannot give detailed information on this matter, but I emphasize that the talks between Iran and Russia on the development of relations are held at different levels, and the energy field is also of interest to both countries.”
