According to the company, after facing difficulties in sourcing spare parts for the safety valves at the Salman Marine Complex (KPP) and Salman Gas Platform (LQ3) due to sanctions, the reverse engineering process for producing these parts began.
Following technical evaluations and an urgent request from regional officials, the company’s instrumentation unit, relying on local experts, initiated the production of critical components last year. In the first phase, two sets of parts—including pilot repair kits and main safety valves—were designed, produced, and successfully assembled in March 2025. After passing technical tests at 102 bar pressure and approval by the technical inspection unit, the parts were transferred to the gas platform for final installation.
In the second phase, at the recommendation of regional maintenance officials, production began on 20 additional sets to meet operational demands. This achievement highlights the technical expertise of IOOC specialists, who have taken a significant step toward self-sufficiency in the country’s oil industry despite harsh sanctions.
