Iran Eyes Self-Sufficiency in Main Petchem Catalysts by 2023

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company announced breaking of the monopoly of foreign companies in supplying the catalysts needed by the petrochemical industry, and said: “Iran will not need to import the main catalysts of the petrochemical industry by 2023.”

According to the National Petrochemical Company, Majid Daftari, commemorating the research week and congratulating the petrochemical industry researchers, said: “Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, with the support of the petrochemical industry and using the world's latest technical savvy, is always in the process of developing the industry.”

He added: "Based on its strategic plans, the company is taking steps to formulate and develop technical knowledge for production of catalysts and chemicals required by the petrochemical industry, secondary industries, optimization of production units and existing knowledge, and commercialization of technical knowhow."

The CEO of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company stated that out of 40 types of catalyst groups in the petrochemical industry, 20 have been localized and industrialized in the country for far, adding by the end of the current calendar year, which began on March 21, 8 more groups of catalysts will be localized and the remaining 12 groups are under study.”
