Much of High-Tech Petchem Equipment Built Domestically: CEO

TEHRAN (Shana) – The CEO of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) said a large part of the high-tech equipment needed in the petrochemical industry is supplied domestically.

Jafar Rabiee told reporters on Monday, April 5, that feedstock supply and capturing flared gas have been two of the main concerns of the petrochemical industry over the years.

He said PGPIC is currently engaged with a €1 million project for gathering flared gas, adding a major part of the project is being developed by local experts given the fact that the lion’s share of the high-tech items needed in the industry are supplied domestically.

Once operational, the project will result in a major reduction in gas flaring in the southwestern oil-rich province of Khuzestan to be consumed by petrochemical plants as feedstock.
