PRTC Inks 1st Iranian MTP License

TEHRAN (Shana) – The Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) signed the first contract to license a methanol to propylene (MTP) contract with a local firm on Thursday.

The contract was signed by PRTC and Fateh Kimia Petrochemical Company in a ceremony held in the presence of the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Behzad Mohammadi.

During the ceremony, Mohammadi said this contract to commercialize the technical savvy for production of propylene from methanol with Fateh Kimia Petrochemical group is the first step in this regard in Iran.

He said: “Methanol to Propylene plants will be built for different regions such as Assaluyeh, Amirabad, Anzali and Islamabad and the production capacity of this product will reach 4 million tons per year by 2025.”

The plant will be operating with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons.

Along with the development of MTP know-how, the technical savvy of producing all the catalysts required for this unit has been acquired and internalized by PRTC.

Research and development to reach the current capabilities began 15 years ago.
