Oil Prices Rise in Volatile Conditions: Zangeneh

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said instability had spurred a price rise in the oil market, and said: "Psychologically speaking, there is somewhat of an upward trend in oil prices currently."

According to IRNA, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Zangeneh said that the Iranian missile strike on Ein al-Assad Airbase in Iraq was done according to an order, hoping that the dignity of the Iranian nation would be in this move.

Noting that oil prices would grow in volatile conditions and fall in stable times, he added: "Psychologically speaking, oil prices have been somewhat upward now.”

"Our wish is for the United States to stop disturbing not only the political system but also the economic and social systems in the region and to allow people to live in peace because this is in the interest of everyone in the world," he said.

The Iranian Minister of Petroleum said that everybody condemned the assassination of General Soleimani, saying: "No free man can confirm such a crime; it was a great crime against humanity and in favor of terrorists, and Major Soleimani was a symbol of the combat against terrorism."

Zangeneh stressed that Iran was expecting more from international institutions, “but they, as always, took the side of the oppressor.”
