Gas Recovery Begins in South Pars Phase 14

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iran has started gas production from Platform 14B of the offshore South Pars gas field.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), the gas is delivered to onshore refining facilities for processing, Mohammad Mehdi Tavasolipour, operator of Phase 14 Development Project of South Pars gas field said, adding the third offshore topside of the project was installed back in July and became operational on Wednesday.

He also predicted that the platform would become fully operational within the next few days.

Tavasolipour further said Platform 14B was developed for production of 14.2 mcm/d of natural gas from Phase 14 of the supergiant gas field, which is shared by Iran and Qatar in Persian Gulf waters.

Besides, a daily production of 20,000 barrels of gas condensate and 100 tons of sulfur as well as 250,000 tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and 250,000 tons of ethane per year is expected by full operation of the platform.

He added that the 2,400-ton structure was transferred to its designated offshore spot by an HL-5000 barge.
