South Pars phases 22-24 set for gas output boost

SHANA (Tehran) – The operator of the South Pars phases 22-24 development project said new drilling operations are set to begin soon, with the completion of remaining project sections expected to increase the phases’ rich gas production capacity.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, Amirfarzan Fazelian said planning and execution are underway to complete the development of South Pars Phases 22-24, one of the field’s 35-month development projects. He said the groundwork has been laid to advance the remaining stages of the project across multiple sectors.

Fazelian said the planned work includes completing outstanding onshore and offshore facilities, pipelines and drilling operations, relying on domestic technical expertise and the capabilities of Iranian contractors and manufacturers.

He added that efforts by the company’s development projects division to finalize the structure of the remaining work have progressed, and drilling operations will begin shortly after a drilling rig is transferred and installed at the Phase 23 platform. The accelerated pace of completion activities is expected to continue.

Fazelian described the project as one of POGC’s key initiatives to increase production from the shared South Pars gas field. He said bringing the remaining sections online will raise rich gas production capacity by about 4 million cubic meters per day.

The additional output is expected to support stable energy supplies and help reduce Iran’s gas supply-demand imbalance, he said.

Fazelian emphasized that completing the remaining work in phases 22-24 is an important step toward maximizing development capacity at South Pars and achieving greater utilization of resources from the shared field.
