First-of-its-kind compressor set for Dehaq gas boost station

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company announced significant progress on the construction, installation and commissioning of the sixth unit at the Dehaq 2 and 3 gas pressure-boosting facilities in central province of Isfahan, saying the station will become the first in Iran to use an E-design compressor capable of transferring 40 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Managing Director Behnam Mirzaei said work on the sixth expansion unit for the Dehaq gas pressure-boosting station on Iran’s Second and Third National Gas Trunklines is advancing rapidly. Installation of the turbocompressors, scrubbers and air coolers has been completed, while mechanical works and piping connections are now underway.

He said the project is being implemented under a tight schedule and is expected to complete installation activities by late July, allowing the project to move into pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

Mirzaei highlighted the technical significance of the project, noting that the Dehaq station will be the first in the country to deploy a domestically manufactured compressor with a daily transmission capacity of 40 million cubic meters. The high-capacity equipment is expected to play a key role in increasing gas transmission capacity and maintaining pressure stability along the Second and Third National Gas Trunklines.

According to Mirzaei, the deployment of such advanced equipment reflects the company’s long-term strategy to meet growing gas demand while enhancing the reliability of Iran’s gas transmission network.

He described the project as a strategic component of the country’s gas infrastructure, given the Dehaq station’s critical role in maintaining transmission stability across central Iran. Although the project was originally planned on a 15-month schedule, he said efforts are underway to complete pre-commissioning and commissioning activities ahead of target.

Mirzaei stressed that the company remains committed to delivering strategic energy infrastructure projects with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Sam Sarani-Asl, project manager for the gas pressure-boosting facilities program, said the project achieved 6% progress within two weeks, describing the pace as a major accomplishment. He added that, due to overlapping mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and piping activities across the site, contractors and consultants must maintain strict adherence to health, safety and environmental standards.
