Nili made the remark in an address to the Ceremonies marking the 50th Anniversary of Establishment of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).
Nili said now, gas has a share of 70 percent in the country's energy basket.
He said since the share of gas in the country's energy basket is high, any discrepancy in the process will pose problems for the country's economy.
Since 1990s we have decided to replace gas with other liquid fuels, said the Iranian top economic official.
The official said Iran is now the third major gas consumer worldwide and most probably National Iranian Gas Company is one of the biggest gas companies worldwide.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Nili criticized privatization without making necessary changes in the infrastructures.
