
Bratislava - Petrochema Dubova, one of Slovakia's biggest petrochemical firms, posted a net profit of SKK 19.4 mln in 2003, a decline of SKK 13 mln from the previous year, according to figures released by the firm. Sales fell to SKK 1.75 bn, down from SKK 2.18 bn in 2002.
Petrochema exported nearly half of its production, primarily to Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Hungary.
The firm expects sales to top SKK 2 bn this year, while gross profit is projected at SKK 45 mln. Petrochema produces motor fuels, heating oil and industrial detergents. The firm is 96 %-owned by Alfa Trading, which is comprised of Petrochema managers. The firm employed over 420 people at end 2003.
