Speaking Tuesday at a meeting between members of the Article 90 Committee and the oil minister, Nasrollah Pejmanfar emphasized that the ministry’s core responsibilities continued without interruption and that the public did not face fuel shortages.
Pejmanfar said the meeting marked the second review of the Oil Ministry’s performance since the war. Discussions focused on managing and securing fuel resources, including natural gas and petroleum products. Based on reports, planning measures and public cooperation, he said there is no cause for concern regarding fuel availability.
He stressed that the government’s objective is not to impose restrictions on citizens but to ensure efficient management of energy resources. Reducing excessive fuel consumption and moving toward internationally recognized consumption standards, he noted, has long been a priority under national legislation, even before wartime conditions.
Referring to the legal requirement to reduce natural gas consumption by 10% annually, Pejmanfar said the current situation provides an opportunity to implement energy-efficiency and demand-management policies with public participation. He called on all stakeholders to support efforts that make better use of conserved resources and strengthen energy management initiatives.
Pejmanfar added that effective resource management, combined with public cooperation, can turn current challenges into an opportunity to improve consumption patterns and increase energy efficiency across the sector.
