During a meeting at the Information Technology Organization of Iran regarding energy management, Hashemi argued that smart technology offers a more efficient path forward, potentially reducing the strain on the public and improving overall energy productivity.
"Global estimates suggest that smart technology can reduce energy consumption by 20% to 25%, and that potential exists within our own country," Hashemi said. "Increasing energy production without managing consumption is not a sustainable solution."
Hashemi highlighted the ministry's development of a new integrated national platform designed to monitor and manage energy use in government buildings. He described the system as a critical step toward data-driven governance and emphasized the importance of refining the platform through pilot testing before a wider rollout.
The minister called for increased synergy between government agencies to ensure the project meets its goals within the current administration’s term. He stated that the digitalization of energy management remains a foundational and strategic priority for the Ministry of Communications, aimed at creating a more resilient and efficient infrastructure.
