According to president.ir, Pezeshkian made the remarks Monday during a meeting with members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture focused on addressing challenges facing economic actors, particularly the private sector.
The meeting reviewed obstacles related to foreign exchange, energy, production and trade, and resulted in directives to relevant agencies aimed at facilitating economic activity and resolving existing problems.
Pezeshkian said ensuring stable energy supplies for industries, preventing power and gas disruptions, reforming foreign exchange procedures, removing excessive regulations and improving the business environment are key government priorities in supporting national production.
“Any slowdown or disruption in economic activity directly affects people’s livelihoods and the broader national economy,” he said.
The president also stressed the private sector’s responsibility to manage energy resources efficiently, saying industries receiving subsidized energy at preferential rates must prevent waste and misuse.
He added that subsidized energy should support production, employment and higher productivity rather than contribute to smuggling, resource waste or non-transparent activities.
Pezeshkian warned that industries heavily dependent on cheap energy and lacking proper energy management would face serious challenges in the future. He said the government is using all available capacity to provide electricity and gas to industries, but efficient consumption must also be treated as a national responsibility by the private sector.
He also emphasized directing energy subsidies and resources toward productive industries with higher added value, saying limited national resources should not be allocated to low-efficiency units producing uncompetitive or low-quality goods.
