Strengthening drilling industry through NTBFs

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of National Iranian Drilling Company said effective cooperation with new technology-based firms (NTBFs) plays a key role in accelerating the localization of equipment, reducing dependency, addressing specialized needs and increasing efficiency in the drilling industry.

According to NIDC, CEO Morteza Fouladi, during a visit to NTBFs in Ahvaz, emphasized the importance of using the scientific and technical capabilities of these firms. He said developing indigenous technologies, supporting domestic production and utilizing the expertise of local specialists and elites are among the company’s main strategies for enhancing its operational and technical capabilities.

Fouladi reiterated that effective engagement with knowledge-based companies can help accelerate equipment localization, reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, meet specialized technical demands and improve productivity in the drilling sector.

As part of efforts to expand technological cooperation and support domestic capacities, the CEO of the NIDC, accompanied by a group of company executives and officials, visited several NTBFs based in Ahvaz.

During the visit, the scientific, technical and industrial capabilities of the companies in fields related to the oil, drilling and specialized equipment manufacturing sectors were reviewed. Discussions were also held on potential areas of cooperation to meet the technical and operational needs of Iran’s drilling industry.

Managers of the NTBFs presented their latest products, services and technological capabilities, while also sharing proposals and perspectives on expanding cooperation with the NIDC. The visit was aimed at identifying existing capacities, strengthening ties between industry and the innovation ecosystem and supporting NTBFs in achieving the strategic goals of the country’s drilling industry.
