Shamseddin Hosseini, speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with the CEO and senior managers of the National Iranian Oil Company, said Iran’s adversaries have, in recent years, tried to damage the country’s oil sector through unjust sanctions, followed by an imposed war and a naval blockade. Despite those efforts, he said, industry managers and workers have successfully neutralized the threats through significant, dedicated work.
Citing reports that the country’s crude oil production capacity has been maintained, Hosseini added that the Oil Ministry has taken appropriate measures to address the naval blockade. He said other relevant bodies, including the diplomatic apparatus, should also remain active on the issue.
Hosseini stressed the need for support from other branches of government, including Parliament, to accelerate the reconstruction of damaged oil facilities. He said the morale of oil industry employees and workers in rebuilding these facilities is exemplary.
While reconstruction will take time, he said, planning should aim to shorten the timeline as much as possible.
Referring to the loss of part of the country’s refining capacity during the conflict, Hosseini said managing fuel and energy consumption is essential under current conditions. He added that related programs should be designed and implemented collaboratively, with public participation and support.
Hosseini said that during the third imposed war, the public demonstrated it could act even ahead of the government in supporting national success.
He also pointed to a recent meeting between the commission and the head of the National Petrochemical Company, saying efforts are underway to restore lost petrochemical production capacity. Even so, he said, consumption management and conservation remain unavoidable in the current situation.
