Keramat Veis-Karami said the share of transactions using emergency fuel cards at stations fell from 43% to 25% following implementation of the plan.
Speaking Monday at the official launch of the instant fuel card issuance project, Veis-Karami said the smart fuel card has been the cornerstone of Iran’s gasoline rationing system. He noted that about 62 million fuel cards have been issued over the past 18 years.
He said providing quality services to the public has been a longstanding priority, adding that the traditional process for obtaining a smart fuel card was time-consuming. In recent years, the company was tasked with shortening the issuance process.
Veis-Karami said that in addition to the conventional application method through Police +10 offices, an online option has been introduced under the smart fuel system. Applicants can now register at fcs.niopdc.ir, reducing the need for in-person visits to Police +10 offices.
Referring to the three-tier gasoline pricing plan, he said the policy was designed to promote use of personal fuel cards and has successfully cut the use of emergency station cards from 43% to 25%.
