Almaty - About 200 tonnes of oil spilled from a fractured section of the Kalamkas-Karazhanbas- Aktau pipeline in Mangistau district in west Kazakhstan.
The accident occurred on Thursday evening, the State Agency for Emergencies told Interfax on Friday.
"Personnel from the Mangistau oil pipeline department have fixed the pipeline. The spill was banked up and guard posts set up along the perimeter. The cleanup, including land re- cultivation, should be completed shortly," the agency said.
The 720 millimeter pipe broke through along a welded seam. The fracture was apparently caused by corrosion.
