Power plant fuel reserves rise by 1b liters

SHANA (Tehran) – The country's usable liquid fuel reserves for power plants reached 3.4 billion liters on Jan. 19, marking an increase of more than 1 billion liters compared to the same date last year.

According to the Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, an average of approximately 58 million liters of diesel was delivered daily to the nation's power plants in the month started December 22, 2025. This figure represents a growth of 4 million liters, or more than 7%, compared to the same period last year, which saw an average daily delivery of about 54 million liters.

The level of usable liquid fuel reserves on Monday, Jan. 19, was 3.4 billion liters. This is over 1 billion liters higher than the reserve level on the same date last year (Jan. 19, 2025).

The average daily delivery of diesel to the country's thermal power plants in Dey 1404 reached a historic high of 58 million liters. This represents a 7% increase over the previous record average delivery under the 14th administration (54 million liters last year) and a 38% increase over the peak average delivery during the 13th administration (42 million liters in December 2022).

Furthermore, based on statistics from the Integrated Planning Management of the Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, the share of liquid fuel (fuel oil and diesel) in the fuel mix of the country's thermal power plants exceeded 54% in Dey 1404.

These records in average delivery levels and power plant storage capacity were achieved as the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company halted imports of diesel in the 1404 calendar year. This was made possible through the implementation of consumption management policies and increased production.
