According to the parliament’s news service, Paknejad made the remarks Tuesday, after a meeting with members of the Parliament’ Civil Engineering Committee. He highlighted the importance of Article 12 in promoting energy savings in infrastructure projects, saying the Oil Ministry has a significant legal mechanism that can play an effective role both in increasing production and in optimizing energy consumption.
He said lawmakers at the meeting raised issues related to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, transportation and civil projects, and reviewed how these agencies have used the capacity of Article 12, as well as whether any obstacles or challenges have emerged in applying the law.
Paknejad said the discussions led to positive conclusions, adding that practical solutions were proposed to facilitate procedures and improve use of the legal mechanism. The outcome, he said, was a consensus on streamlining implementation processes and expanding the application of Article 12.
