Household gas use tops 400 mcm a day

SHANA (Tehran) – Natural gas consumption in Iran’s household, commercial and small industrial sectors surpassed 400 million cubic meters per day last week as colder weather set in, reaching about 2.726 billion cubic meters for the week. The highest daily use was recorded Wednesday at roughly 401 million cubic meters.

Data from Nov. 8–14 show the household, commercial and small industrial sectors ranked first in total gas use with about 2.726 billion cubic meters. Power plants followed with about 1.319 billion cubic meters, and major industries with more than 1.189 billion cubic meters. Combined consumption across the three sectors exceeded 5.233 billion cubic meters for the week.

Daily Breakdown

Saturday, Nov. 8: Power plants used 179.51 million cubic meters, major industries 171.99 million, and the household, commercial and small industrial sectors 381.29 million. Total consumption: 732.79 million cubic meters.

Sunday, Nov. 9: Power plants consumed 184.06 million cubic meters, major industries 171.61 million, and the household and commercial sectors 382.88 million. Total: 738.55 million cubic meters.

Monday, Nov. 10: Power plants used 183.92 million cubic meters, major industries 172.03 million, and the household and commercial sectors 387.01 million. Total: 742.96 million cubic meters.

Tuesday, Nov. 11: Power plants consumed 188.56 million cubic meters, major industries 168.83 million, and the household and commercial sectors 392.90 million. Total: 750.38 million cubic meters.

Wednesday, Nov. 12: Power plants used 195.22 million cubic meters, major industries 167.48 million, and the household and commercial sectors 396.04 million. Total: 758.74 million cubic meters.

Thursday, Nov. 13: Power plants consumed 197.21 million cubic meters, major industries 169.06 million, and the household and commercial sectors 400.93 million. Total: 767.20 million cubic meters.

Friday, Nov. 14: Power plants used 190.10 million cubic meters, major industries 168.11 million, and the household and commercial sectors 384.56 million. Total: 742.77 million cubic meters.

On average, daily gas use during the week reached about 188.3 million cubic meters in power plants, about 170 million in major industries and more than 389 million in the household, commercial and small industrial sectors. The consumption pattern indicates a gradual decline in the power sector and a notable rise in household and commercial demand as temperatures drop and heating needs increase nationwide.
