Ali-Asghar Shokouhi, acting deputy for technical affairs at NIOC’s exploration department, said that since 2021, the wells have been handed over following joint field inspections, checklists, and temporary and permanent handover reports. The wells were transferred to the Central Iranian Oil Co., Pars Oil and Gas Co., Petroleum Engineering and Development Co. (PEDEC), Arvandan Oil and Gas Co., Khazar Oil Co., and the Iranian Offshore Oil Co.
Of the wells delivered, more than 90 oil and gas wells are either producing or have the potential to be brought into production, he said.
Shokouhi added that under a 2011 NIOC board resolution, all exploratory wells must be transferred to the operator of the relevant field or reservoir after evaluation to ensure national assets are used efficiently and to prevent unnecessary costs for drilling parallel production wells.
