According to a report from the company, Vahid Qane’ei-Fard stated that the project to build the two tanks was part of a plan to expand the refinery's feedstock storage. He said the tanks are the largest storage tanks in the Middle East and will double the company's strategic feedstock reserves.
Qane’ei-Fard said the project required 3.8 million person-hours of labor, 520,000 meters of welding and more than 1,120 tons of rebar. The project's completion increases the feedstock storage capacity at the world's largest gas condensate refinery by 2 million barrels.
