NIDC completes drilling of 114 oil, gas wells

SHANA (Tehran) – The National Iranian Drilling Company announced it has drilled and completed 114 oil and gas wells, with over 115,000 meters drilled, during the first year of the 14th administration's term.

CEO Mehran Makvandi detailed the company's annual performance, coinciding with Government Week, which honors the memory of martyrs Rajaei and Bahonar. He stated that the wells were completed across various onshore and offshore oil fields and have begun production.

Of the completed wells, 29 were developmental-appraisal wells and 85 were workover wells, Makvandi said. He added that special measures to address challenges and increase productivity resulted in a 43.5% reduction in waiting times and an efficiency increase from 68% to 76%.

Highlighting support from the Ministry of Oil and the National Iranian Oil Company, Makvandi said ancillary drilling units provided 6,463 technical-engineering services to client companies, playing a key role in well completion and helping to maintain and boost production.

Key measures to boost oil, gas output

Makvandi said that with the start of the 14th administration, major goals including increased oil and gas production and reduced energy shortfalls were prioritized. Relying on the country's largest drilling fleet, the NIDC played a key role in reducing the gas imbalance by bringing gas wells online in the onshore section of Kish Island; 9 of the 13 wells there are now producing.

He also listed other key company achievements since last August:

   Consolidating and developing communication services.

Overhauling 24 domestically-powered generators, eliminating long waits for drilling rigs.

Drilling and completing two wells in the Yadvaran oil field (West Karun).

Commissioning the "73 Conquest" drilling rig in the presence of the oil minister during the president's trip to Khuzestan.

Planting 200 climate-resistant saplings in operational areas for social responsibility.

Using a surface system and Production Logging Tools (PLT) in productive wells.

Makvandi also noted the signing of contracts for building domestic decanter centrifuges, feed pumps and 60Hz diesel generators, and for supplying six heavy drilling rigs for projects in Gordan, Pazanan and Paydar-e Gharb.

Further key achievements included holding training courses for Tajik oil experts, localizing a drilling data transmission system that integrates global standard parameters, and domestically building a second Mobile Oil Treatment (MOT) unit.
