Overhaul of two Phase 12 platforms in South Pars completed

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy head of operations and production at Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) announced the safe completion of a major simultaneous overhaul of two gas platforms in Phase 12 of South Pars, involving more than 700 work orders.

According to POGC, Peyman Rashidi reported the successful completion of the overhaul on the Phase 12 gas platforms, stating that the major maintenance of offshore platforms 12A and 12B was finished within a one-week timeframe.

He added that gas extraction from both platforms was simultaneously halted on May 16 for annual maintenance and resumed after a week of continuous, round-the-clock work.

The deputy head noted that the overhaul on Platform 12A involved 332 work orders and nearly 2,000 man-hours, while Platform 12B required 386 work orders and around 2,600 man-hours, all completed within a week.

Rashidi highlighted the importance of inspecting flare tips during the annual overhaul, stating that checks were conducted for corrosion, cracks, equipment, and thermocouples, with all thermocouples on both platforms replaced—a key achievement in the Phase 12 maintenance.

He emphasized that multiple teams, including operations, health and safety, technical inspection, and engineering, contributed to the project. In the technical inspection phase, all pressure safety valves (PSVs) were removed and transported onshore for calibration.

Considering maritime weather conditions, onshore repair workshops operated around the clock to ensure calibrated PSVs were reinstalled on the offshore platforms as scheduled.

Rashidi cited challenges such as high humidity and extreme heat but noted that despite harsh conditions, the teams’ relentless efforts ensured the operation’s timely and successful completion. The two Phase 12 platforms of the South Pars gas field resumed production after one week.
