Record-breaking overhaul at South Pars Phase 14 refinery

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) announced a new record in executing 13,000 work orders during the major overhaul of the South Pars Phase 14 refinery.

According to the company, Touraj Dehqani visited various sections of the refinery in Bushehr province’s Kangan region on Monday (June 2) and noted that four years have passed since the refinery began operations. He stated that remaining tasks for completion have been prioritized with precise scheduling and allocated resources.

Dehghani referenced a comprehensive list of required work procedures, adding that the list was prepared with urgency and is being tracked using multiple executive strategies.

The CEO and his delegation inspected key units of the refinery, including:

- Unit 103 (gas condensate stabilization)

- Gas condensate export station

- Unit 121 (steam production)

- Unit 106 (sweet gas injection into the sixth cross-country pipeline)

They closely reviewed progress on ongoing activities.

The refinery’s major overhaul, completed in an 18-day period ending May 8, 2024, primarily focused on electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and mechanical and piping work to integrate the facility.

Notable achievements during the overhaul included:

- Replacing bolts and flanges of a 32-inch offshore pipeline valve (GOV) in less than a week.

- Changing out catalyst beds for dehydration in the third and fourth gas trains, connecting the fifth cross-country pipeline (IGAT5) to the refinery’s slug catcher riser in under 10 days.
