Overhaul of South Pars Gas Refinery 7 relies on domestic expertise

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of the seventh refinery at South Pars Gas Complex announced the start of the 2025 major overhaul operations, aimed at maintaining gas production stability and improving product quality, beginning May 22.

According to the South Pars Gas Complex, Mehrdad Abdi highlighted the use of domestic capabilities in the overhaul operations, stating: "So far, over 95% of the refinery’s needs have been met by domestic companies. This year’s overhaul, utilizing 100% domestically manufactured parts and equipment, marks a significant step toward achieving the 'Investment for Production' initiative."

He added that the 2025 overhaul, which includes 1,031 repair tasks across various refinery units, began on May 22 with the shutdown of South Pars Phase 17 and will continue through the end of the month.

The refinery manager detailed the technical measures, noting that the overhaul involves 164 inspections, 81 electrical repairs, 222 instrumentation tasks, 12 corrective projects, and a series of maintenance activities on fixed and rotating equipment.

Abdi listed key tasks completed during the overhaul, including:

- Inspection of amine tanks and floor coatings in the gas row 

- Replacement of the 48-inch inlet line to the incinerator furnace in Unit 108 

- Inspection of regeneration furnaces in the dehydration unit 

- Inspection of the DSO separator tank in Phase 18’s treatment unit 

He also highlighted corrective projects such as:

- Inspection of the regeneration tower and packing 

- Replacement of flare tip pilots 

- Replacement of Phase 18’s LP burner tips 

- Repair of steam leaks to prevent energy waste 

- Maintenance of brine pumps in Unit 125 

- Inspection of 31 heat exchangers 

These efforts are part of the extensive 2025 overhaul program.
