Iran ready to attract major oil, gas investors with innovative models

SHANA (Tehran) – First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to offer attractive investment packages and innovative partnership models to facilitate the entry of major investors into large-scale oil and gas projects.

"We seek financial investment and sustainable strategic partnerships based on long-term mutual benefits," Aref said Tuesday at the event of ‘Strategic Transformation in Iran’s Upstream Oil and Gas Sector, Unlocking Investment and Financing Opportunities in NIOC projects’.

"I am delighted to have the honor of joining you today and would like to express my appreciation to the National Iranian Oil Company for organizing this important event," he added.

Aref noted that the gathering was an opportunity to discuss the potential of Iran’s oil industry, which not only shapes the country’s economic future but also plays a vital role in regional and global energy security.

"Iran’s upstream oil and gas sector, home to the world’s second-largest natural gas reserves and third-largest oil reserves, is not just a key player but a pillar in global energy dynamics," he said.

He emphasized that Iran’s advantage lies not only in its resource wealth but also in its skilled workforce, extensive infrastructure and political will for transformation and constructive cooperation.

"Iran, with its vast territory and population of around 85 million, ranks among the world’s top 18 countries in size and population. Its large number of students and young graduates, strong higher education system and high human development index make it highly capable of attracting domestic and foreign investment," Aref said.

Geographically, he added, Iran holds a unique position, with land and sea borders connecting 15 countries at the crossroads of the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

"Located along the International North-South and East-West transport corridors, and equipped with suitable infrastructure, Iran can play a key role in facilitating trade between these regions," Aref said.
