He stated that since the company’s establishment, a total of 5,154 wells have been drilled and completed.
Mehran Makvandi emphasized that the NIDC’s primary role is to provide drilling services and specialized operations to oil and gas production companies.
“Drilling, as the frontline of production, is the first step in maintaining, sustaining, and increasing output,” he said.
Highlighting round-the-clock drilling operations, Makvandi noted that of the 100 completed wells, 24 were developmental and 76 were workover wells. Among these, 74 wells—14 developmental and 60 workover—were integrated into production in the operational area of the National Iranian South Oil Company.
He added that 11 wells were completed in fields managed by the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, three in the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, seven in projects by the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, and five as contractual projects.
Makvandi underscored the National Drilling Company’s key role as an upstream arm of the National Iranian Oil Company in production, stating that the company has dedicated part of its capacity to gas well drilling, playing a vital role in supplying hydrocarbons and reducing energy imbalances.
The total drilling footage in 1403 reached 113,520 meters, an increase of 28,863 meters compared to 1402, driven by a more than fivefold rise in developmental wells. During this period, 4,538 technical service operations and 1,473 specialized service operations—covering over 20 types of services—were conducted, showing significant growth from the previous year.
Makvandi also noted the relocation of 17 drilling rigs across operational areas. Of the company’s 74 onshore and offshore rigs, 64 are currently active in 10 provinces, engaged in developmental, appraisal, exploratory, and workover projects.
Accelerating drilling projects
Makvandi outlined the company’s development plans for 1404 (2025-2026), stating that the National Drilling Company aims to intensify efforts to meet the National Iranian Oil Company’s targets, accelerate drilling projects, and continue the modernization of its fleet and technical equipment, which began in 1403.
“By strengthening the fleet, upgrading rigs and equipment, and adopting new technologies, we will see a significant boost in productivity, reduced drilling downtime, increased efficiency, and higher revenue,” he said.
He also listed employee training, adherence to safety and environmental standards, and improved welfare facilities as key priorities for 1404.
Concluding his remarks, Makvandi extended New Year greetings and wished for the acceptance of prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
He also expressed gratitude to employees stationed away from their families during the holiday season, wishing them health and continued success.
