He emphasized its unparalleled role in strengthening the country’s resilience and its undeniable impact on the image of an independent and dignified Iran.
In his congratulatory message on the anniversary of the oil industry’s nationalization, Paknejad wrote:
“In the tumultuous history of contemporary Iran, few dates have become ingrained in the collective memory of the nation. The glorious day of March 19 (29 Esfand) and the commemoration of the ratification of the law to nationalize Iran’s oil industry is one such occasion. Due to the outstanding role and influence of all segments of Iranian society in shaping that resolve and achieving that monumental goal, this day remains alive and vibrant in the essence of the Iranian people, even after the passage of time.
The nationalization of the oil industry symbolizes the collective will to break free from foreign domination over Iran’s national wealth. It evolved into a widespread movement involving all social classes, from the ratification of the nationalization law to resisting global threats and sanctions against Iran’s oil. This became an experience of unifying the nation’s will and solidarity, enabling a greater societal aspiration to materialize—an aspiration that manifested during the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (RA) and continues under the guidance of the Leader.
Undoubtedly, it was under this same spirit that oil industry workers, during the perilous days of the Islamic Revolution, became pioneers in supporting the revolution. They helped Iran’s oil industry regain its technical and operational independence, which was the true aim of the oil nationalization, within the framework of the Islamic Revolution.
Today, after decades, the oil industry stands as a steadfast pillar in demonstrating Iran’s independence and a clear manifestation of the Iranian nation’s capabilities. It plays an irreplaceable role in the country’s stability and resilience, leaving an undeniable mark on the image of an independent and dignified Iran.
All these achievements have been made possible by the enduring spirit of independence-seeking among successive generations of Iranians. We, the Iranian society of today, as heirs to the passion and wisdom of the oil nationalization movement, are duty-bound to safeguard the ideals and accomplishments of that generation.
We are all committed to protecting the independence of this industry and the technical and operational capabilities achieved through immense effort. We must not forget that 74 years ago, no force was greater than the will and unity of the people in helping the heroic Iranian nation persevere on that challenging path. Today, this country and this industry, under the leadership of the wise Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the efforts of dedicated oil industry workers, continue to advance toward the peaks of progress and development.
On this auspicious occasion, I honor the esteemed workers of Iran’s oil industry over the past seven decades, who transformed the dream of an Iranian-owned oil industry into a tangible reality. I pay tribute to the memory of this noble movement of the Iranian people and salute the martyrs of Iran’s oil industry.”
