South Azadegan crude oil processing unit to launch soon

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) announced that around-the-clock efforts by operational teams are underway to launch the first phase of the crude oil processing unit at the South Azadegan joint field. He stated that the unit will soon begin production.

Nasrollah Zarei emphasized the importance of the South Azadegan processing project, calling for accelerated implementation. He urged all departments to utilize available resources to ensure timely operation and address production needs.

Zarei noted that the South Azadegan processing unit has a capacity of 320,000 barrels per day. He explained that initial plans for the project's inauguration were delayed due to shortages of specific materials. However, due to the relentless efforts of operational teams, one section of the unit will soon commence production.

The CEO highlighted the critical role of crude oil processing units in completing the value chain of the oil industry. These units prepare crude oil to meet the standards required for transportation, refining, and export. Processing involves removing impurities such as water, salt, and associated gases, which, if not eliminated, could damage refining equipment and hinder export processes.

Zarei stressed the strategic importance of operational units in sustaining production and boosting the country’s export capacity. He stated that the ultimate goal of the Central Treatment and Export Plant (CTEP) is to prepare crude oil for export. The project’s operation will not only increase production capacity but also strengthen the infrastructure needed for the development of the South Azadegan field.

He reiterated the company’s full commitment to expediting the unit’s operation, noting that its launch will significantly enhance oil production and revenue. Additionally, it will reduce operational costs and optimize the processes of transportation and export.

According to the CEO, the launch of this major project in the South Azadegan oil field marks a significant step toward the development and optimal utilization of hydrocarbon resources.
