NIDC reports 13% surge in specialized drilling services

SHANA (Tehran) – The technical deputy of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) announced that 1,238 specialized drilling operations were carried out from the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2024) through the end of the 10th month (January 19), marking a 13% increase compared to the same period last year.

Jahangir Shojaei stated that statistical analyses of the performance of NIDC’s technical services management in recent years indicate a growing trend in both the quantity and quality of services provided.

He added that technical services operations reached 3,985 cases in the first 10 months of this Iranian year, reflecting a 5% growth compared to the same period last year.

Shojaei noted that technical and specialized services in the drilling industry encompass over 25 types of operations, including extensive acidizing, cementing, injectivity testing, tubing, portable tubing, hanger installation, well productivity testing, drill stem testing, air drilling, and underbalanced drilling.

He further explained that from the beginning of the year through the end of the 10th month, 1,238 specialized drilling operations were conducted, including logging, drilling fluid logging, well intervention, directional and horizontal drilling, and coring. This represents a 13% increase compared to the same period last year.

Shojaei emphasized that ancillary drilling services are crucial during the drilling and completion phases of wells, as well as for wells experiencing pressure decline during production. These services play a vital role in maintaining, preserving, and enhancing production levels.

He also mentioned that the NIDC currently provides technical and specialized services to several domestic companies, including the National Iranian South Oil Company, the Central Iran Oil Company, the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, and the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, as well as a number of private sector firms.

Shojaei highlighted that the company has the capability and resources, including skilled and experienced personnel and necessary equipment, to offer services to oil-rich countries. However, he stressed that the priority remains meeting the needs of Iran’s oil industry and maintaining effective and continuous collaboration with domestic companies in line with the developmental plans of the National Iranian Oil Company.
